The United Nations: “Our United Nations!”
United Nations Day (UN-Day), October 24th 2009.
64th Anniversary of "Our" United Nations
We are a group of independent friends of the United Nations that seek to strengthen the UN by connecting the people of the world to ‘their’ UN.
By declaring ‘the’ United Nations: ‘Our UN”; we start fully taking ownership in ‘our United Nations’.
By transforming a largely unknown UN-Day and declare it a Day when we will celebrate globally our ‘common humanity’ in all its aspects, we can realize this connection.
What a sound and new foundation this would offer ‘our’ UN!
Here is the UN-Day 09 supporting action we have in mind:
Our objectives for upcoming UN-Day, October 24th 2009:
1- Testing out the idea of transforming UN-Day.
2- Testing out the idea of taking personal ownership in ‘Our UN’.
3- Soliciting feed-back and suggestions.
4- Wishing our friends and contacts ‘Happy UN-Day” on Oct 24th 2009.
5- Network to prepare a successful UN-Day 2010 Celebration.
Our initial preparations for next year’s UN-Day 2010 are:
1- Enrol passionate and entrepreneurial people about the UN-Day idea.
2- Draft a clear Vision-Mission to transform UN-Day.
3- Brainstorm about ideas to make it happen.
4- Agree on clear Strategy-Timetable-Objectives to transform UN-Day.
5- Prepare and work out a successful 2010 UN-Day Campaign.
Who is Jean-Paul Halsberghe?
In a previous life, I managed a deli shop in Belgium. In 1997, I left on a soul-searching journey that lead me to many parts of our globe.
While volunteering for the UN Association of Toronto, I co-organized – as the Vice-President- several UN supporting projects. (2003-04). In 2005 and 07, two more independent UN support actions were organized.
From July 2006 till July 2009, I withdrew from society for a 3 year sabbatical in order transform the weak points that kept preventing me from reaching my fullest potentials. That experience concluded the 12 year journey.
Right now, I am travelling to native Belgium over land. (Israel, Cyprus, Turkey, Eastern Europe, Balkan to... Belgium)
